Text Format (TEXT_FORMAT)

Changes the previous module’s text in one simple way — for example count words, change upper and lower case, replace words, shorten it, add a fixed text, or remove characters at the start and end.

Ports

Port Kind Purpose

Input (in_input)

Input

The text to change

Output (out_output)

Output

The changed text

Properties

Choose the Operation first (required). Its own fields appear below it.

Operation What it does

Word Count

Counts the words and passes on {"wordCount": N} instead of the text. Nothing to set

Case Conversion

Changes upper and lower case

Text Replace

Replaces every place where a text appears

Text Limit

Keeps only a part of the text

Static Insert

Passes on a fixed text instead of the received one

Text Strip

Removes characters at the start and/or end

Case Conversion

Field Required Meaning

Case Mode (caseMode)

Yes

UPPER makes all letters capitals, LOWER makes all letters small, SWAP turns capitals into small letters and the other way round

Text Replace

Field Required Meaning

Search Pattern (searchPattern)

Yes

The text to find. Every place it appears is replaced. Upper and lower case must match

Replacement (replacement)

No

The text to put in its place. Empty → the found text is removed. With Use Regex, $1, $2 … insert parts of the found text

Use Regex (useRegex)

No

Off (default): the search text is matched exactly as written. On: it is a regular expression (a search pattern), for example \d+ for any number

Text Limit

Field Required Meaning

Offset (offset)

No

How many characters to skip at the start. Empty means 0. A value longer than the text gives an empty result

Limit (limit)

No

How many characters to keep after that. Lower → shorter text, for example to stay within a model’s input limit. Empty → keeps the rest of the text

Offset and Limit must not be negative. A negative value makes the agent server refuse the pipeline.

Static Insert

Field Required Meaning

Static Text (staticText)

Yes

The text this module passes on, instead of the text it receives. {{input}} inserts the received text. If the received text is a JSON object, {{fieldName}} inserts one of its fields. A placeholder that matches nothing stays as it is

Text Strip

Field Required Meaning

Strip Side (stripSide)

No

Where characters are removed: at the start (LEFT), at the end (RIGHT) or BOTH (default)

Strip Characters (stripCharacters)

No

Which characters to remove, for example .,; — each one is removed on its own, as often as it appears in a row. Empty → removes spaces, tabs and line breaks

Text Strip changes only the start and end. Characters in the middle of the text stay.

Use cases

  • Same spelling before a check: LOWER before a Validator with EQUALS, so "Yes" and "yes" count as the same.

  • Shorter text before a model call: Text Limit keeps a very long result from filling the model’s input.

  • Clean-up: Text Strip on values read from a file or an API.

  • Length check: Word Count, then a Validator with CONDITION on the field wordCount.

Notes

  • One operation per module. For two changes, chain two Text Format modules.

  • Choose the Operation first — until then, the panel shows no further fields.

  • Spaces at the start and end of a text field are removed when the pipeline is sent to the agent. So a Search Pattern or Replacement that is only a space does not work: an empty Search Pattern blocks the pipeline, and a Replacement of one space removes the found text instead.

  • Word Count counts groups of characters between spaces, so e-mail is one word and a lone - is one too.

  • Fast, free and gives the same result every time. Prefer it to asking a model to reformat text.
